about me

I'm a designer, fixing complexity and bringing clarity.

My name is 薇 (Wei). In Chinese it normally means roses, but I prefer its other meaning: wild grass, the kind that grows anywhere and refuses to quit.

I've always believed that honesty is the most valuable thing a person can bring to their work. It's also why I fell in love with design. Design starts with people, sits at the intersection of disciplines, and at its best, creates real business value, not just good experiences. Over the years I've learned to pull problems apart patiently and systematically until the right solution feels almost obvious.

Outside of design, I'm:

Working out in the gym
Knitting as a form of meditation
Studying Japanese — slowly, stubbornly
Cataloguing cafés with good light

Find me on LinkedIn, Behance, or email me. I'd love to meet you.

My design philosophy

Entropy is the default. Design is the act of resistance.

01

Design is clear thinking visualized.

02

Progressive disclosure of complexity (start simple and the user opts in for complexity).

03

Make it useful, then usable, then beautiful.
